Bio
Norman Mauskopf studied and taught photography at Art
Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. He has had three
books of his photographs published. The most recent, A Time Not Here,
focuses on African-American musical and spiritual life in Mississippi
and was described as a "focused documentary of astonishing beauty" and
named Editors' Choice by the American Library Association. This book
has also been acknowledged by the Art Director's Club of New york, the
AIGA, Graphis and Communication Arts for excellence in photography and
design. Norman's first book, Rodeo, looks at the lives of professional
rodeo cowboys and was awarded Best of Show by the Art Director's Club
of Los angeles. His second book, Dark Horses, documents the world
of thoroughbred horseracing. All three books were published by Twin
Palms/Twelvetrees Press. Norman's photographs have been included
in various solo and group exhibitions, twice at the International Festival
of Photojournalism in Perpignan, France. Norman continues to do assignments
for magazines and corporate clients as well as speaking to various groups
about his photography, and conducting workshops at Santa
Fe Workshops and the Maine
Photographic Workshops.
